Mood Board Monday: an eccentric, eclectic, boho-chic bedroom

Bold floral folk art patterns take center stage in this offbeat, whimsical bedroom. It features a custom-made bedspread, colorful window treatments and a bright rug. The gold anaglypta wallpaper adds even more texture. The artwork features a colorfully costumed dancer who fits right in.

Mood Board Monday: an iridescent jewel box half bath

A half bath can present an opportunity to splurge and take risks due to its small size. That was the concept here. Black fixtures provide a dramatic foil to the iridescent faucet and vessel basin I selected, which would be mounted on a sculptural pedestal. I imagine the mosaic tiles set with black grout.

Mood Board Monday: a floral and paisley study

I envision this as a space for someone who loves to read and also loves flowers. It's an eclectic update of a traditional study. The jewel tones add richness. The rhinestone button tufting in the chairs adds a hint of glamour. I selected gold-streaked velvet for window treatments and a textured wallpaper that picks up the colors of the desk, rug, and artwork.

Speaking of the artwork, here are the artists' names and websites:

Mood Board Monday: a black and white expressionist living room

This living room may be black and white, but it's definitely not boring. The black furniture and black and white décor are bold and dynamic. At the same time, they are the backdrop that allows the bright, expressionistic abstract art I selected to really shine.

Here is a larger view of each painting, along with a link to the artists' websites.

Mood Board Monday: a kitchen in earth tones and semiprecious stones

This week's mood board features a kitchen in rich, warm earth tones. There are three different colors of wood for the cabinet doors. The floor looks like wood, but it's actually porcelain. And the countertop is made with semiprecious stones.

The return of Mood Board Monday: a silver and gray bedroom

It's been a long time, I know! I'm trying to get back into the habit of posting these every week. This week's mood board is for a bedroom in shades of gray and silver.

The hues are soft, but the lines are crisp and modern. I wanted to create something that's both tranquil but also visually interesting. As always, if you like what you see but aren't sure how you could pull it off, feel free to hire me to design a real space just for you!

Mood Board Monday: a colorful art studio

This month marks my tenth anniversary of having an art studio of my own. And this mood board is a compilation of all the things I wanted to put into my studio if money were no object. I am thankful I was able to acquire many of these pieces (or good knockoffs of them). The aesthetic I was going for is primary colors to entertain my inner child in sturdy industrial materials like powder-coated steel. And many pieces are on wheels so that they can be moved around the studio space when necessary. Utilitarian but still playful and chic.

Mood Board Monday - an outdoor room in shades of blue and green

This week's color scheme is inspired by swimming pools and lush vegetation. The cool colors are visually refreshing. The rug, pillows, drinkware and dishes are all in harmonious shades of blue and green.

Mood board Monday - an outdoor room in pink and orange

This outdoor room is so bright and festive. It brings the warmth of indoor spaces outdoors with rugs and a sofa with durable throw pillows. The ombre tableware is made of melamine. The bright orange grill provides a stylish way to barbecue.

Mood Board Monday: a woodland lodge

Imagine a lodge tucked away in a forest with sturdy wood furniture that has a touch of both sophistication and whimsy. That's what I was going for in this design.

Mood Board Monday: a purple living room

I designed this room around my painting, Violet Verve. Like my painting, it features varying shades of purple. In addition to those colors, there are also touches of fuchsia and blue. I found a stunning ombré wallpaper with a purple and fuchsia gradient that compliments the furniture, rug, and window treatment fabric.

Mood Board Monday - an outdoor room in black and white

This outdoor room is modern and subdued. The sharp geometric patterns on the lounge chairs are repeated in the rug and the hairpin legs of the planters. A marble tray and stainless steel glasses complement the sturdy concrete dining table.

Mood Board Monday: a mod/baroque dressing room

There's something decadent and dramatic about a dressing room, racks and racks clothes, shoes, and accessories surrounding a vanity. For this dressing room, I chose a concept that is a little bit mod and a little bit baroque. The clear acrylic in the chair legs and the console table make them "disappear." I chose an embroidered floral wallpaper and a fabric for creating dramatic floor-length curtains to enclose the garment racks.

Mood Board Monday - a tranquil turquoise home office

This home office is an oasis awash in cool shades of turquoise. There is plenty of storage for papers and office supplies. The restful palette comes alive in abstract and geometric patterns on the rug, ceiling lamp, and wallpaper.

Mood Board Monday - room for romance

Selecting décor for this year's Fall in Love with Art event is what inspired me to create this mood board. From the ornate upholstered bench to the large scale rose wallpaper, the mod/baroque aesthetic is playful and theatrical with shocking shades of pink. The hot pink record player is perfect for listening to your favorite love songs. There are beautiful serving pieces for a romantic dinner for two. It's an ideal setting for a dramatic floral arrangement.

Mood Board Monday - a happy home for pets and their people

This week's design features stylish, modern pet accouterments. The sofa is an ideal place to relax with animal companions because it has a lower level for a cat or dog to curl up and rest. I chose a wallpaper with lively tropical birds on it and an indoor/outdoor rug that is easy to clean.

Mood Board Monday: a nice place to read a book

This is a cozy area for a child to read, learn, and grow. There's storage for books, a fun rug, and pillows and window treatments with a playful take on the alphabet and pencils.

Mood Board Monday: a watercolor floral bedroom

Every day is springtime in this bedroom, no matter what the weather. It would fit nicely into the same home as last year's traditional living room with a twist because of its updated take on familiar furniture and floral motifs.
