Chicago Artists Month 2014: Ravenswood and Great Chicago Fire Festival

This past weekend was the first one of Chicago Artists Month.  I have decided to spend this October visiting as many fellow artists' studios as possible. I started with the open studios at the Cornelia Arts Building in Ravenswood on Friday. It's home to several artists I know, including Kevin Swallow, Phillip Hartigan, and Jordan Scott.  I also found some new artists while I was there.

Then on Saturday, I went back up to Ravenswood for the Ravwenswood Art Walk. Though it was rainy and cold, I still had a good time.

I always seem to take the most pictures at Architectural Artifacts.

The good thing about the gloomy weather was that Lillstreet wasn't too crowded. For the first time I was able to get some photos of the studios there.

Nadeau is a cool furniture store that more people should know about.

Before I could go back to the warmth of my studio, I had to visit my friend Minnie Watkins at her booth at the Great Chicago Fire Festival.

It was too cold to stay outside much longer, but I had a good time. I'm looking forward to this weekend, when I plan to go to some more events, hopefully in better weather.

  1. I knew who the first artist was before you even mentioned his name Darrel Roberts was the person who inspired me to return to painting, but this time as an abstractionist. Thank for so much for featuring my work. I look forward to checking out your studio.
