Mood Board Monday: a living room in shades of blue

I love a good analogous color scheme. The one I chose for this room has shades of blue and teal with a little bit of green.

In addition to my painting, Untitled (Blue and Green), there is another one-of-a-kind handmade piece: the glass pendant lighting by Susan Haas Glass.

Mood Board Monday: an Afrofuturist hair salon

I've always wanted to design a hair salon. I suppose it's because I have spent so much time in them getting my hair styled for pretty much as long as I can remember. While looking at manufacturers that specialize in salon furniture, I came across a very impressive silver salon chair and decided that I would design everything around it. I found some futuristic metal light fixtures and textured metal panels, as well as an out-of-this-world white bench for the reception area. I selected metallic silver rubber flooring because hairstylists need a comfortable surface to stand on all day. I think this is what the beauty shops might look like in Wakanda.

Mood Board Monday: a retro breakfast nook

This is another throwback from design school, but I expanded on it. The assignment was to create an informal dining area for a family with young children in a mid-century house, and the parents are big fans of the 1950s and 60s design. So I took the idea and ran with it. All I added was more accessories, including additional artwork, flatware, dishes, and a selection of cotton fabric for napkins. It's a fun place for a family to enjoy a meal together.

The 2019 Ravenswood Art Walk

I went to the 2019 Ravenswood Art Walk over the weekend. It was so nice to see the work of the talented artists and artisans of Ravenswood. Here are the pictures I took. Whenever possible, I tried to get the artists' names, but I may have missed a few.
